Visual Arts

What this looks like at our school

All students visit the Visual Arts room for an hour each week. Visual Arts lessons incorporate the areas of drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, sculpture, clay, textiles, modelling and construction. Students view, discuss and create art inspired by different cultures, time periods, art styles and the works of famous artists.

Purpose

Through the Visual Arts, students develop important life skills such as creativity, critical thinking, problem solving, communication, self-expression, organisation, conceptual understanding and confidence when experimenting with new ideas and materials.

Learning in Visual Arts

In our weekly sessions, students are encouraged to explore new techniques, experiment with different materials and develop their confidence as artists. They learn to express ideas, communicate visually and reflect on their work and the work of others.

Art Show

We proudly celebrate our students’ creativity each year in our annual Art Show, showcasing artwork from all year levels in a vibrant community event.
